Clinical Signs of Canine Osteoarthritis

The clinical signs of canine Osteoarthritis include:

  • Lameness
  • Joint swelling
  • Decreased joint range of motion (ROM)
  • Joint pain

Some pets may also refuse to jump into the car or onto the bed, have difficulty climbing stairs or be unable to sit in a normal position. Many will not show clinical signs when the adrenaline kicks in during dog play or ball chasing. Typically, these animals will show pain and lameness following their play/rest cycle.
